& Photographers

Here we feature the work of artists and photographers who either live and work in the Wey Valley or who have captured the beauty of the valley through their extraordinary creative skills. Their works are featured throughout the site but here we've brought together a representative collection of their work.

The artists and photographers featured have kindly given their permission for their work to be published and have not received any fee for inclusion here.

GARTH ALLAN
Artist - watercolours
Garth is an acclaimed artist of waterway scenes and has actively been involved in
canal restoration schemes around the country.

MELANIE CAMBRIDGE
Artist - oils, acrylics, mixed media

As a local narrowboat owner, water and canal scenes are favoured subjects and you may often see her painting on the riverbank, especially during the summer months. Melanie is a member of Guildford Art Society as well as part of the Surrey Artists network. She is available for commissioned work, including views of your favourite part of the river with or without your own boat in the picture!  As an art tutor, Melanie runs courses and painting breaks for individuals as well as bespoke workshops and demonstrations to art groups around the South East. SARAH CHANIN
Artist - oils
Sarah graduated from Exeter College of Art and design and over the last 17 years has painted many waterway scenes. Member of the Guild of Waterway Artists.

DAVID DRURY
Artist - watercolours & acrylics
David is a member of the Byfleet Art Group, The Local Artists, Woking Society of Arts and the Pirbright Art Group.

STEPHEN GODDARD
Artist - watercolour & ink, pen & ink, pastel
Stephen is the Millennium Artist for his home town of Godalming which he has captured in pictures for over a decade. He has exhibited extensively and is a full exhibiting member of the Guildford Art Society. Stephen is also an Adult Education art tutor.

KEVIN GORTON

TERRY HARRISON
Artist - watercolour & acrylic
A former student at Farnham Art School and a holder of a prestigious Fine Art Guild Award, Terry is a prolific artist and energetic tutor. He favours traditional landscapes, and living close to the Basingstoke Canal enjoys painting waterscapes. Terry’s works are in public and private collections around the world and he has his own gallery in Cove.

Is a member of the Byfleet Art Group, The Local Artists and the Woking Society of Arts.

AUDREY LAYCOCK
Artist - watercolours
Audrey is the chairman of the Byfleet Art Group and the Organiser for The Local Artists.

PAUL MACKENZIE
Artist - acrylics
Paul has worked in the great outdoors for much of his life and is a keen observer of life in the countryside. His paintings reflect his love of nature. A selection of Paul's paintings are displayed at The Charterhouse pub, Godalming.

JACQUI SLADE
Artist - various media
Jacqui has been an artist ever since being awarded her first art prize at the age of ten. Her creativity has spanned fashion, modelling and singing with a dance band although now she tends to concentrate on her art which includes watercolour, acrylic and collage.

ANNES STEVENS
Artist - mixed media
Annes is a Concept Artist at Electronic Arts in Guildford, developers of interactive entertainment software.

JAMIE DURRANT
Photographer & digital artist
Jamie grew up in Norfolk, studying at the Norwich School of Art & Design. He moved to Surrey in the late 1990’s working as a graphic designer at a local computer games company.

JEREMY EARLY
Photographer - specialising in nature & wildlife
Jeremy's undoubted skills in nature photography are captured here with a special feature on the nature of the Thursley Nature Reserve before the fire of 2006 all but destroyed the reserve. Jeremy is a conservationist and professional journalist who for a good 20 years has captured the wildlife of Surrey through his camera lens.

PAUL FARMER
Radio-controlled aircraft - aerial photography
Paul has lived, been educated and worked in the Wey Valley for all of his life and has always had a fascination for the area. Having taken to the air with radio controlled aircraft as an RC enthusiast the idea of combining his hobby with capturing the landscape below was irresistible, and so Paul’s interest in aerial photography was born.”

David has had a passion for anything that flies from an early age influenced by his father's career in the Aerospace & Electronics industry. Skillfully melding his flying skills with digital photography he takes to the air to provide aerial shots from a specially designed RC electrically powered helicopter.

CHRISTIANE ZSCHOMMLER
Fine Art photographer
Christiane is a self-taught documentary photographer and has won awards for her work including the London Photographic Award.

MARTIN FINNIS
Photographer & digital retoucher
As well as working in the graphic design industry Martin is also a semi-professional photographer, with a passion for capturing images both in and out of a studio environment.

MARK GRAVES
Photographer
Mark is an amateur photographer who took up photography when he bought a digital camera in 2004. He is stimulated by the ease of experimentation the medium provides and the challenges of his passion for outdoor photography.
