A Tour Around
Woking Palace

To the side of the King's Garden is The Copse. This in Tudor Times was an orchard and the two large fishponds there would have provided fresh fish. (picture top left).

The Palace had defensive moats on three sides with a gatehouse and drawbridge. The river provided natural protection to the south. Much of the moated defences are still evident today. (picture left).

One of the aims of the Friends of Woking Palace is to have archaelogical training and investigation take place routinely on the site. As evidenced by the considerable remains of Tudor brick and plaster all about there is much yet to be discovered and learned about this royal Tudor Palace.

The Friends of Woking Palace would welcome your support. Visit their website to find out about the Palace, when their Open Days are, and how you could volunteer to help maintain this important part of the Wey Valley's heritage.
