	All the timber used is collected locally as part of sustainable woodland management across all hardwood tree species.		All logs are sorted and sized to suit where in the kiln they are going to be laid.
	It is hot work to manually stack the equivalent of three pick-up truck loads of wood into the kiln.		Logs are laid side by side leaving a central chimney into which burning cinders will eventually be tipped to start the burn.
	All sizes are slotted in together to make maximum use of the space inside the kiln.		The kiln is deliberately overfilled to take advantage of the extra space beneath the cone-shaped lid. As the charcoal burns the level will drop by a third.
